The
LFT-16 is Eminent Technology’s first hybrid bookshelf size
speaker system using the highly acclaimed Linear Field Transducers
combined with a 6.5” woofer in a low Q sealed enclosure. The
magnetic drive principle developed by Eminent Technology for the LFT
speaker series is unique to the industry. As the diaphragm of the
speaker moves between the magnets following an audio signal, the
magnetic field intensity remains constant. In a sense it is the
magnetic equivalent of a push-pull electrostatic loudspeaker,
differing in that it requires no step up transformer or bias voltage
and that the audio signal is applied directly to the diaphragm. As
a result, distortion remains low even at high sound pressure levels.
In
order to obtain a uniform driving force over the entire surface area
of the diaphragm, a low mass foil/Mylar diaphragm is used with
conductor traces etched (like a circuit board) with high resolution.
A thin, lightweight diaphragm is used for the high frequency
tweeter.
The minimum recommended amplifier power is 25 watts per channel.
The maximum suggested amplifier power is 200 watts per channel. The
speaker is moderately efficient at 85dB/1W/1m and maximum
recommended SPL is 103 dB.
The
low frequency woofer was carefully designed to blend seamlessly with
the mid-range and high frequency drivers. The design uses a very
low crossover frequency of 250 Hz between the woofer and midrange.
The woofer enclosure is tuned to ensure excellent transient
response.
The
LFT-16 is bi-ampable and uses the Edison Price Music Post for
electrical connections. The standard finish is oak with black
grilles. Optional wood finishes are walnut and gloss black and are
available for an additional charge.
The
speaker is ideally suited for high-end two channel audiophile
systems or multi-channel surround sound systems. Pair of Eminent
Technology’s LFT-16’s and LFT-8’s, with the LFT-12
center channel speaker make up a complete home theater surround
sound system. With an extremely low profile, the LFT-16 takes up
